It is now the Cromwell, on the corner of Flamingo Rd. and the Strip. I did something really stupid playing poker at that place many years ago. Texas Hold'em when it was still the Barbary Coast. What was that really stupid thing? It was the fact I tried to fill an insight straight flush. The odds of that happening are astronomical. Well, I tried it anyway. The guy who played against me kept raising, I kept throwing in my money. My hand was a broken inside straight flush in spades. I needed a four, I will never forget it. All this happened around 1985 or so. The dealer throws my last card my way. It is the 4 of spades, the exact card I needed. He turned up his hand, I turned up my hand. I thought the guy was going to kill me. I grabbed my money and I got out of there as fast as I could. I never again played poker for money. Not my bag. True story.

It is near Nellis AFB at the 2700 block of Las Vegas Blvd. N. When it started in 1974 it had one bar with one blackjack table,eight slot machines and two pool tables. The whole place was the size of a studio apartment, about 700 sq.feet. It has grown over the years to about 25,000 square feet. Still not very large, but a far cry from where it started.

It is a micro brewery/Ppzza Joint in a shopping plaza off Sunset, close to a movie theater. It has been in business for many years. I had pizza and beer there a few times. Both very good. There are only a few slots, no table games. Unless things have changed. There would be no reason to visit.

I remember the whole story as if it happened yesterday. Across the Strip from the Casino Royale stood a large casino/hotel called the Frontier. The Frontier was the only large casino on the entire strip that did not want to sign a union contract. The union did not give in and neither did Mrs. Elardi (name?) This went on year after year. Mrs. Elardi was finally forced into bankruptcy, and all because she was so stubborn. Everyone else was able to live with a union contract, except her. She still had the Casino Royale. I think her son took that over and ran it for quite a few years. The Frontier was bought by Phil Ruffin allegedly for a bargain price. I talk more about him when I mention the Frontier. It is another amazing Las Vegas story. I charge more for this token because of the history.

The Excalibur is the colorful medieval castle just a few blocks south of Center Strip, with a King Arthur theme. It is one of the kid-friendly casinos, with the "Tournament of King" Knghts jousting show where customers eat roast chicken with their bare hands, and a "Dungeon" which really is a room full of arcade games. Their tokens have a variety of images in keeping with the knights in armor theme.

The Harley Cafe/Bar was located at the corner of the strip and East Harmon. It managed to stay in business for 19 years, a very impressive record for Las Vegas, where even huge hotels come and go seemingly overnight. I am sitting at that bar one day playing the one dollar slots. The bartender casually mentions to play all the dollars possible because management wants to remove them and replace them with quarter machines. Yes, in those days that was still possible. The year was 2016. I iimmediately bought all the Harley tokens he had in the till, several hundred of them. I now control most of them. If you want one you need to pay up, no one else has them. I have them uncirculated and circulated. I use them in belts, saddles, biker accessories, inset on leather jackets, belt buckles and more.The color is incorrect. It actually is a silver color. My best seller is the Harley pocket watch. I designed it and I am the sole vendor of it, so far as I know. Tell me what you want, gold tone watch or silver tone watch. It is way out on Boulder hHghway in Henderson. It was first opened as the "Cattle Baron" casino by a friend of mine. He was in construction and fell off the scaffolding working on the outside of the casino a short time after the casino opened. He broke both of his legs and knee caps and was no longer able to work. He lost the casino and it was taken over by the Boyd Group and is still in business.The token is silver color.

The Longhorn is basically a motel with casino attached. 150 rooms. I used to stop over because it always adverised steak specials. Not bad either. But it does not play in the same league as Sam's Town or Boulder Station, two casinos that are also located on Boulder Highway. The token is silver tone.

The Klondike is a locals' casino in Henderson that has had its ups and downs over the years. It is now on the upswing, newly remodeled as the Klondike Sunset. This token is from about twenty years ago and is in good condition.

Anything Chinese in Nevada is always very interesting. In 1865, when the state of Nevada was formed it had seven times more folks of Chinese descent than white folks. So many, the Federal Government passed the Chinese Exclusion Act. But they prevailed and prospered.. This restaurant/casino is at 608 Rainbow,quite a distance from the strip. The food was real good the few times I visited.

In the heart of down town Las Vegas. After Mr. Wynn bought the Golden Nugget, he wanted to expand it right away. He got the city of Las Vegas to deed a street over to him in order for him to be able to build a high rise addition to the old Golden Nugget. The entire casino was remodeled and became quite popular. If you folks have a hankering to see an oversized, genuine Australian golden nugget you should come and visit this casino. It is on display at the Golden Nugget casino. It is the largest, single nugget ever discovered in modern times in, of all places, in a mans backyard in Australia about four inches below the surface., mate. It comes in at an amazing 27.2 Kg.(1 Kg. = about 2.2 lbs.).It is worth close to $1.5 million.The official name is "Hand of Faith Nugget."

This was the starting point for the entire Station Casinos chain of casinos. It started with a bingo place and , if I recall correctly a businessman by the name of Thomas who was told by the Gaming Control Boad to sell his place or else. I think he had made it impossible to hit the cover all on his bingo games. Mr. Fertita bought the place, installed a buffet and the place took off. I spent a lot of money there. One day I had an otherworldly experience. I am playing my usual slot machine when the lady next to me hit a $875 000 jackpot. I said to myself, I could just as easily played that machine. here is the kicker. She returned some weeks later, played the same machine and hit a $25 million jackpot. The odds on that happening must be astronomival It was in all the papers. The entire complex was renovated and is now fairly upscale. As with all Station Casino casinos it offers tons of free parking. It is a mostly locals place although it is sitting next to an off/on ramp of the I15. Very easy to get to.

I used to drive up to that casino, put a dime in the meter and went inside. Just as easy as can be. The last time I visited, a couple of months ago, the parking attendant asked me for $20. I said no, turned my van around and left. They are too greedy now. It shows, there were not too many gamblers around. Benny had a display of $1 million encased in some kind of acrylic sitting on the gaming floor. Folks used to line up to have their picture taken in front of it. When Benny (Binion) was around I was able to get a steak breakfast for a $1.95 at the snack bar. Gamblers used to be three deep at the craps tables. Not now, the place is not what it used to be after the Binion's sold it. The tokens I saved during my gambling days are pretty rare. I have one complete set only. The rest of them are singles. It is sad what happened to that place. created a separate category for the single tokens.

It started out as a motel next to the Flamingo. The owner lived up north, S.Dakota perhaps. He demolished the motel and built the Imperial Palace. A strange thing about that place is the flood channel that runs under it. It doubles as a drive way, but do not dare to park in that area. Several times in the past cars have floated down from Caesars Palace and did not stop until the iron grill on Koval. The owner loved to throw Nazi parties. He ran around in a Nazi uniform until he was told to get out of town. Strange guy, wants to play that Nazi part in a town that basically was started by Jewish business people.
He was forced out of Las Vegas. Very collectible token.

It opened in 1995. It was located on East Fremont, within the Las Vegas city limits It opened with 100 rooms and was considered to be the first resort hotel. It had several expansions. I drove by there many times and always wondered about that casino, so far away from all the action. But it survived for many years. Some years later the Station Casinos group decided to build Boulder Station, fairly close to the Showboat. It then bought the Showboat and tore it down. I always had a suspicion it wanted no competition.I could be wrong, but, very strange.

It opened mid year 1979, at 5255 Boulder Highway.and was bankrupt about a year later. I remember Boulder Highway real well. It was nothing but a strip of asphalt, no landscaping and many vacant lots.

It sits on the corner where the strip and the countymeet, and the City of Las Vegas proper starts. Sahara Av. is the borderline between the two.. Milton Prell opened it more than seventy years ago. He started out with a bingo parlor. It had fallen on hard times the past twenty years or so when the action shifted mor towards center strip. But I can see daylight for that property, ever since Resort World began came on line. No less than three hotels, all Hilton branded, are on that property. It is across the street from the Sahara, more or less. The Sahara itself has undergone major renovations.

About five miles east of the strip, but well worth a look- see.The hotel encloses a large inner court yard with a running creek, a waterfall, some howling coyotes and a lot of trees and bushes. Every so often the lights are dimmed and the waterfall comes to life. real interesting. This hotel caters to a lot of different folks. There is a downstairs bowling alley and a quite good mexican restaurant. Upstairs you have your fast food and a nice steak house. Not much by the way of shopping. Parking is plentiful. There is also a trailer park. Easy to reach by a straight shot down Flamingo Road from the strip, or north on Boulder Highway from Henderson. Or take the Flamingo Road off ramp east from the I-95.

This casino was located a pretty long way from the Las Vegas strip at 2500 Las Vegas Bvd. N. The last entry I was able to find dates from 2014. It was a locals place with interesting clientele.

The Tropicana has fallen on hard times. I used to worl there years ago, but the down hill slide was visible even then. Lots of parking, butall the pavement is cracked. Just a couple of restaurants. But the Elvis iinpersonators do a good job.All tokens are silver color.

Right down town on 12 Ogden, (and Main). Owned by the Boyd Group. It specializes on the Hawaii trade. For a while you could fly from the islands to Vegas for ten bucks, one way. Good food all around in that casino.

The Hacienda was the second hotel/casino built at that location. The first was the Gold Strike which burned down. The Hacienda in turn was replaced by the Hoover Dam Lodge/Casino. This is a special token, with its finely detailed image of Hoover Dam commemorating its 65th anniversary, and the fact that this casino no longer exists

Here is a casino that cannot make up its mind, should I just disappear silently into oblivion, or should I fight it and hang around. The location is unfortunate, where the city meets the county, at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd, and Sahara Av. It has been renovated, and looks a lot better than before. Let's hope for the best. The biggest plus is the ample parking.

It is exactly where it said it would be, on Fremont St. It cannot be missed, it occupies a corner location and the marquee is huge. My favorite place for a buffet lunch or dinner. Good food at a reasonable price.It holds true for all Boyd properties. A parking garageis attached. I am not sure if there is a fee for that. I will check it out.

There were two Fiestas, one on Rancho, the other at the east bound off ramp of the I-95 and Lake Mead. Both of them have been torn down. I used to visit the Lake Mead location once a week for my weekly bingo fix. Good buffet also.They were both Station Casinos properties.

As far south of center strip as you can go. The next stop going south is a golf course, so far anyway. Until someone decides to build yet another hotel. It never seems to stop. And they run at full capacity most of the time. Just try and get a room during the travel season. This hotel has a bunch of very good, and pricey, restaurants and dinner houses. There is even an authentic Russian restaurant. It had a life size statue of a communist leader in front for a while. Too many people complained about it , and its head was chopped off. Now it is just a headless statue. One of the restaurant has a wine tower. In order to retrieve a certain bottle of wine a helper is lowered down by ropes to get it. Just like an indoor climbing tower. There is also a huge, walk through fish tank. I have been watching those fish grow larger over the years. Lots of parking. I don't know if there is a fee, but i don't think so. It is not center strip as I said. M. was the scene of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. 60 people were killed if I remember correctly.

One of my favorite places. Several miles north of the strip on Rancho Drive. A combination brewery, eatery, casino. I have a feeling the owners may be from Wisconsin. They have the best home made wurst, and, in season, imported fired whitefish on the menu. I could live at that place.

I think it is part of the Station Casinos group. This is one of the easiest to reach hotels in the entire valley. Take the Green Valley Ranch off ramp when traveling east on the I-215. Lots of parking. I have never seen that casino out of parking space. Lots of restaurants, in all price categories, a movie theater, lots of shopping. This hotel has it all. Even a mini vineyard. It is upscale , but not crazy expensive. Well worth a trip, time permitting. It is not too far, maybe fifteen miles or so.

It opened in 1930, making it one of the oldest casino properties. It was razed a few years ago andreplaced by the modern Circa hotel/casino. I did a walk though a few weeks ako. It all turned out very nice and modern.

This casino is at the 3700 block of the strip. That makes it a little distance away from center strip, but still pretty close in. Easily reachable by cab, Uber, private car, city bus. It has a very large parking garage, but I have not checked on parking fees lately. Some casinos do, others do not. Vegas is full of unique places, and NYNY ranks very high on the list. From the interior design that reminds visitors of the original New York of the thirties. It is done, very skillfully in the Art Deco style. This hotel has a lot going for it. There is the airport for instance. It is within eyesight so to speak. Only about 2.5 miles away. Las Vegas has done a superb job by keeping the airport almost within walking distance. Compare that to Denver for example, where it takes an hour ride by bus to get into town. Then there is the indoor/outdoor roller coaster, the 150 ft. Statue of Liberty, and, above all, the Hershey Chocolate World. I love to hang at the Irish bar, I think it is called Nine Fine Irish Men. It serves the best fish and Crisps (chips). Fortunately on a plate and not inside an old newspaper as was the fashion in the U.K.Of the 16 tokens we offer 15 are uncirculated.

This is not exactly a strip propert.It is well away from the strip on W. Flamingo Rd. The success (eventual) of this hotel prompted other developers to build casinos/hotels away from the strip. There are now a number of them, The Palms, Red Rock, Orleans, for example. More are being developed, mostly along freeway off ramps. At one time it advertised a baked potato so big it would feed a family. I did not believe it and checked it out. It proved to be true. I was unable to finish it by myself. Mr. Marnell, a real estate developer built the Rio.. He also built the "M", about ten miles south of center strip. It is the all black glass building on the righ hand side of the I-15 as you drive in from the sout. The tokens are silver tone.

I was always intrigued by that place. The shape of it, entering as if entering a real opyramid, the inclinators (elevators). All very new and interesting, but after a couple of years they started making changes. There was a canal that circled the entire gaming floor at first, but that was removed. A friend of mine had the gift shop concession. He brought in gifts from Egypt, all kinds of trinkets. Then all of the shops in the passageway to the Excalibur were removed. Management seemed to walk back many of the features that made this casino unique.

This resort was originally developed by Steve Wynn among several others as a family oriented resort. It had a lagoon with two pirate ships that did battles for the kids to watch. After the great recession the owners at the time MGM Resorts, sold it to Phil Ruffin, a super smart business man. The original pirate theme was scaled back and the original family oriented lay out was changed to a more middle class appeal. It now includes a Gilley's Saloon and Western dance hall, bar and buffet. I love it. I did a few line dances there. It also has better dining options and a Senor Frogs.The name was changed to just "TI".

This one has nothing to do wth the Station Casino folks. This was built long before that. It is called a "station" because it is located on the same spot the Las Vegas RR terminal used to be on. It is owned by the Boyd Group and is the only casino with a brewery as far as I know. The mans bathroom has pieces of the Berlin Wall installed. You can now piss up that wall. Serves them right.

I liked it a lot throughout the years. It has some nice features. There is a Russian restaurant,it may be the only one in town. It had a statue of a Communist leader at the front entrance. Management had to chop off its head because of public portest. One of the restaurants has a wine tower on which the sommelier climbs around in a harness to get a bottle of wine. Way in the rear is a huge walk-throught aquarium. The buffet is pretty good too.Unfortunately this hotel was the scene of one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. It makes the tokens very collectible. There is a lot of call for the tokens and the pocket watches.

800 rooms and two blocks east of the strip at the corner of Flamingo and Koval Lane wasn't enough. The thousand room mega strip resorts buried it. A group of seasoned Las Vegas businessmen opened it in '77 at a cost of $25 million. It closed in 2001 and reopened, after a $90 million overhaul, as the Westin Casuarina. Picture that, a $25 million original investment needs a $90 million renovation. But, it is still in business.

It recently changed its name to Harry Reid. This airport, in my opinion, is a master stroke. Either by accident , or by design. It is almost possible to just walk from there to your hotel, it is that close to the strip. Not only that, the slot-fun starts here. What other airport in the U.S. provides gambling? Several nice restaurants and, above all, hardly ever any delays. Gamblers who Smokers are relegated to glass enclosures throughout the concourse ( or depending on your point of view). All in all, close to perfection.

Gigantic is the watch word here. A person can get lost just in the huge parking structure. That happened to me at Caesars Palace a few years bach. Took me a while to find my van. Here is a little bit of information not everyone knows. The MGM was constructed on the old Tropicana golf course. Several prominent entertainers had homes there. I think Paul Anka may have been one of them. There was a small casino on the corner of Trop. and the strip called the Marina. I used to drink many a beer there. That hotel was not torn down,but was incorporated into the MGM.This is the second hotel by that name in Las Vegas. The original was much smaller and stood alongside Flamingo and the strip.
