Nelson
It is listed as a ghost town, which is not entirely true. On a recent visit I encountered several businesses, a trailer park and an antique store. The town is about 45 minutes drive from Las Vegas going south on the 95. Don’t miss the turn off. At one time it had one of the richest gold mines in the entire state. The mine is open for visitation. The strange thing here are the acres and acres of old cars, busses, planes trucks machines and machine parts that are scattered all over the desert. I can’t deny it, it has a certain fascination. Don’t visit in the summer unless you like heat. A couple of miles through the town you get to the old location of “Nelson’s Landing” That entire town wound up in the Colorado Rive as a result of a flash flood. The trailer folks were warned over and over about it. But how can you beat rent free living? http://www.lasvegasvisitor.com
