The Krupp Ranch
Vera Krupp was a German beauty queen and actress who married the German coffee king Alfred Krupp. Vera divorced her husband and moved to Nevada where she bought the Bar Nothing Ranch in Spring Valley. She wanted to be an American cattle rancher and adopted the Diamond V brand. It still can be seen around the property.. She sold out in 1967 because of poor health. The buyer was the Hughes Tool Corp. (Howard Hughes) in 1972 it in turn wanted to sell to Fletcher Jones (I remember him well, he was a car dealer). Under pressure he sold to the state of Nevada that developed the ranch as an entertainment venue and recreation area. i have visited many times. It is very nice out there, nice trees, a brook and spring, wild horses and burros (outside of the fenced in areas.Very easy access from the strip. Just drive out to the Blue Diamond road off the I-15 S. and follow the signs. The ranch building is in almost original condition, very interesting indeed. http://www.parks.nv.gov
