Rafael Rivera discovers the Vegas Valley
Scout/guide for the Armijo party. It was sent and financed by the then governor of New Mexico Chavez to find a trail to connect to the other Spanish lands of the west coat called California. His state wanted trade with coast. In 1829 the Armijo party made camp outside the Vegas valley. No on at the time knew there was a valley. No westerners had been here before. Perhaps mountain men, but there are no records of them being here. Rafael stumbled upon it and reported back to Chavez. The Vegas valley become one of the main stop overs on the Spanish Trail. Traces of it are still at mountain springs off the Blue Diamond Road, State Route 160.
We are always interested in helping local artists. We donate this expensive space. Three books are on the list for now. They are: Nevada a Strange State, Silveropolis, and The Grea Lake Mead Water Caper. They are on Amazon.
