Pony Express
This famous express crossed Nevada almost exactly through its center. 26 relay stations were installed, only three survive intact. All the others are in ruins or have disappeared entirely. It may too far from Las Vegas to warrant a visit. One the stations is now a visitors center near Reno, NV, the other preserved one is around Elko, also in Nevada, close to the Utah line. The image is a painting by Russel and is called “The coming and going of the Pony Express” It goes right to the heart of what the Pony Express was all about, which is speed.
We like to do our part to help the local artist community. We donate this expensive area. The current artist is an author. here three of his books. Nevada a Strange State, Silveropolis, The Great Lake mead Water Caper. They are on Amazon. Please bye one, two or all three and help the artist. Thanks.
