Gold
Nevada is the second largest gold producer in the world. Not too many people know this. There are several, now defunct, gold mines withing reach of the Strip. One is in Nelson, the other in Searchlight. Only the Nelson mine takes visitors into the old mine shaft. The largest , active gold mine is around Winnemucca, at a place called “Rabbit Hole”.Lat, Long: 41.31167, -118.74167. Use this information on Google Earth. The mine is in Pershing County at about 5,000 ft. elevation. It is interesting , because the gold mined there is in microscopic particles, a lot of them. Too far for a visitor to the strip. Unless you charter a plane.
We not only like mines and miners, but also artists. We donate this expensive space to help them. The current artist is an author. Here are three of his books. :Nevada a Strange State, Silveropolis, The Great Lake mead Water Caper. I have read all three of them. They are pretty entertaining. Buy them on Amazon. Every little bit helps.
