The Flamingo Hotel Wildlife Habitat
A wildlife habitat at center strip? Sounds crazy, but it is true. It is a jungle back there. It is not huge, not acres and acres, but it is a very well planned location. It is in the rear courtyard of the hotel. It features flamingos of course, but also ducks, swans and other birds. It is really cute, and it is free. Perfect for the kids to spend a few hours. I applaud Caesars Entertainment for making this available free of charge. Anyone can come in and sit for a while. All of it center strip where real estate is valued in the millions. Have any of you been to that location? Did you even know about it? Let us know, we like to promote it. http://www.caesars.com/flamingo/lasvegas/
We support local artists. Right now we feature three interesting books written by local authors. The first one is really interesting, it is about all the odd stuff that happened in Nevada. 135 pages with many drawings by the author. Did you know that after 1939 riders were no longer allowed to ride their horse into a casino? I did not know they were able to do that at all. Crazy. Lots of short vignettes like that. Another good one is “Silveropolis” the largest silver strike in Nevada history. It was abandoned and then forgotten because of a virus. A good read. I liked it a lot. The third one is interesting. It involves Russian oligarchs trying to steal our water, with the help of Nazi technology. “The Great Lake Mead Water Caper” It keeps you at the edge of your chair. They are on Amazon. Buy a few for gift giving. That’s what I do.
