558 Nevada Highway, Boulder City, en route to Boulder Dam. Here is a rustic but cute bit of Americana right in the middle of historic Boulder City. This city was built especially to house workers employed during the construction of Boulder Dam. Incidentally, this huge government project came in on time (3 years) and under budget (49 million). By contrast; the visitors center cost about 135 million and was completed in a mere ten years. Anyway if coming from Las Vegas or going to Las Vegas from the East by car you need to cross the dam and pass Boulder City. Don't forget to stop by and take in the local atmosphere. Very reminiscent of the 30's. Also, good food at a very reasonable price. A lot of locals hang out at this place. Strictly American food. No lo-cal stuff here. |
