Ah Sin
At Paris Las Vegas, 3645 S. Las vegas Blvd.
I was pleasantly surprised. An affordable Asian restaurant on the strip in a
major hotel. With outdoor seating facing the strip! Very good miso soup and
chicken stir fry lo-mein. My friend had the vegetable crepes which were also
very good.
All in all a pleasant experience. |
Asia
Harrah's, 702-369-5084
Asian and Chinese cuisines from the Far East. I am not fond of any of the
restaurants at Harrah's. This one bareley passes muster. But it is not
expensive, about $10 - $15 for an entree. You might want to give it a try. Stay
away from their buffet !! |
China Grill
at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Bl S. 702 632 7404
Nice rack of lamb with peat jam or bbq salmon. Exquisite decor. |
Chinois
3500 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Inside the Forum Shops which are in turn inside (more
or less) Caesars Palace.
The lesser priced items are pretty mundane. The higher priced ones are
excellent. What is it with all those wraps these days? I hope that fad
disappears soon. I do not like them at all. Then there is the case of the raw
fish (sushi). I still say (have been saying it for years) folks should stay
away from that. Too dangerous. Overall a pretty good restaurant. If you can
live with the noise. |
Grand Wok and
Sushi Bar
MGM Grand, 702-891-1111
Despite its name it is really an Asian restaurant and it serves various
regional dishes from Asian countries. Korea, Vietnam, China and Japan come to
mind. Pretty expensive. Nothing under $15. When at this hotel you need to watch
the Health Dept. reports. |
La Chine
Paris, 702-946-3359
Just about evrything I said about the Grand Wok can be applied to La Chine. In
addition I found some of the food being served at Paris to be shaky in
execution (i.e. the coffee shop and the buffet). No entrees under $15. Service
tends to be slow at times. |
Mask
At the Rio Suites hotel, 702-247-7935
Japanes, Thai and Chinese. Exotic decor with a lot of masks, just like the name
says. Very expensive, no entrees under $25. |
Mayflower
Cuisinier
4750 W. Sahara, Ste. 26
This in the very busy shopping center on the corner of Decatur, 702-870-8432
Seems like Asian fusion cuisine to me. But very good albeit somewhat pricey. You
can count on spending about $16 to $18 for dinner, wine included. I recommend
the Shanghai noodles.Lots of original art Local artists I am told. |
Noodles
Bellagio. 702-693-7223
A noodle shop that puts on airs. Because you are at the Bellagio you are asked
to fork over $15 for a plate of noodles. They got them from all over, China,
Thailand, Japan, etc. Money people probably won't mind. Us riff-raff better go
elsewhere. Too expensive. |
Ping Pang
Pong
at the Gold Coast, off the Strip west on Flamingo about 1 mile. 702-367-7111
I used to be a frequent visitor at this establishment. Very frequent. I have
always found the food offerings in the various restaurants wanting. You can
give it a try when in the neighborhood. Prices are around $20 per entree.
Pretty steep for Chinese food. |
Tsunami Asian Grill
Grand Canal Shops, The Venetian, 3350 Las Vegas Blv. S. 702-414-1980
Had a very good vegetable and tofu salad. The miso soup was also very good. Try
their Bento boxes (tiny Japanese dessert selections). or their lobster bisque.
The good news here is - the food is inexpensive and good. The drinks are very
expensive. $5 for a micro brew, $7 for mixed drinks. The decor is modern with
lots of black intermingled with colored light effects, tree branches projected
onto the walls and ceiling as if you are sitting in a grove. |
